About project

The Safe Way from Violence project is focused on comprehensive help and support for women experiencing violence in intimate relationships. The main activity of the project is ensuring the availability of specialized services for women experiencing violence in intimate relationships, increasing the number of women who will be able to seek professional help.

The project is intended for women who need specific advice, a safe space, relevant information and help. The goal of the project is to maintain and increase the availability of free comprehensive specialized counseling for women experiencing violence in intimate relationships and their children, thereby contributing to the prevention and elimination of violence against women.

In 2020, we recorded 40% more personal contacts with clients and 41% more calls to the crisis line in our counseling office compared to 2019. We also attribute the increase in clients to the COVID pandemic. Currently, 3 times as many clients contact us as compared to last year.

The Safe Way from Violence project will consist of 7 activities, namely:
1. provision of specialized services for women experiencing violence in intimate relationships;
2. provision of programs for children who are witnesses of violence against the mother or victims of violence in the family;
3. deepening the education of female employees of the counseling center and cooperating institutions (ÚPSVaR, police...);
4. implementation of campaigns for the public and preparation of educational and promotional materials for cooperating institutions;
5. multi-institutional cooperation aimed at preventing the occurrence of violence against women in intimate relationships;
6. providing group supervision to organizations helping in the topic of violence against women in intimate relationships;
7. opening of a counseling office branch in Ružomberok.
